1. How will I know that my child has a space with Concordia Summer Camps? Applications from our current families will be accepted until March 12. Community applications will be accepted beginning March 15 on a first come, first serve basis. We anticipate full sessions, so it is to your advantage to get your registration form in sooner rather than later. We will give written confirmation of your child’s attendance with us as soon as possible, and within two weeks of application date.

2. Can I make changes to my child’s schedule? If you need to make changes to your child’s schedule after you have turned in the registration form, you need to provide written notice at least two weeks in advance to Kristen. If we are able to accommodate your change, Kristen will let you know verbally or with written confirmation.

3. For which summer camp class should I sign my child up? We will offer four classes this summer. Our first class is for young preschoolers who turn 4 by August 31, 2010. Note: we are not accepting fall ’10 Teddy Bears this year to our summer camp program. Our second class is for children who will turn 5 by August 31, 2010. Our third class is for children who are entering grades 1 through 3 in fall 2010. Our new fourth class is for students who are entering grades 4 through 8 this fall.

4. When is tuition due? How about other fees? Tuition for Weeks 1 thru 5 is due June 1. Tuition for Weeks 6 thru 11 is due July 1. The $25 registration fee is due upon sign up, and all field trip fees and swim fees (if applicable) are due no later than June 1. A late fee of $20 will be assessed for payments not made by the due date, and continued lack of payment will result in disenrollment for the student.

5. Do I need to send my child to camp with snacks or lunch? We will serve a morning and afternoon snack each day. Please send your child to camp with a hearty lunch as we have active days planned. This should include some type of sandwich or other main course along with fruit or veggie, crackers, and 1 or 2 juice or water drinks. Please do not pack candy or soda. We are unfortunately not able to heat or cook items, and please send an ice pack in your child’s lunch if it needs refrigeration.

6. Do I need to send my child in with a booster seat on field trip days? If your child requires a car seat or booster seat, you must send one to school each day when a field trip is scheduled. For older children, due to the frequency of field trips in this class, some parents may choose to provide an extra booster seat to leave at school all summer.

7. What else should I bring to summer camp? Please send your child to camp each day with a lunch, sunscreen applied, and weather appropriate clothing. For preschoolers, please send a change of clothing to leave in their cubby. Please no flip flops or thongs; tennis shoes or sandals with backs are preferred for our active days. Finally, remember to bring a big smile and a great attitude!

8. What about my child’s DS/Ipod/stuffed animals/other toys? To avoid disappointment and conflict during summer camp, please don’t send your child to camp with any electronic games or other toys. You may send your child with a book or magazine if they wish, but please do not send your child with any other personal toys to camp.

9. What about sunscreen? Please apply sunscreen to your child before they leave home each morning for summer camp. We will go outside most days unless it is very rainy. For full day children, we will apply sunscreen again in the afternoon. You may either send your preferred sunscreen in to school labeled with your child’s name, or we will apply our sunscreen. You will also need to sign a sunscreen form on your child’s first day of summer camp which will list our sunscreen ingredients.

10. On bike days, what if my child wants to bring in their scooter? On your class scheduled day, you may send your child to summer camp with a bike, trike, skateboard or scooter. Participation is optional. Please remember a helmet as well!

11. How are swimming days different (Grades 1 and older)? Please send your child to summer camp on Fridays with a swimming suit on, along with a towel, a change of clothing, and a booster seat if needed.

12. How are water days different (preschoolers)? Weather permitting, each Friday we will have a water day which could include sprinklers, bubbles, and other water play. Please send your child to school in a swimsuit or other clothes that he/she can get wet, and send along a dry set of clothes for afterward. Don’t forget sunscreen!

13. Do I need to sign in my child? Please remember to sign your child in and out each day. Each classroom will have a binder for this purpose. Please know that we will not be able to release your child to anyone who is not on your emergency card so please be sure to list anyone who will pick up your child this summer, and remind them to bring their ID.

14. What if I know I am going to be late one day? Our core activities usually happen between 9:30-3:00 for older students, and 9:30-1:00 for preschoolers, so please be sure that your child is here during those times. Also watch the departure times on field trips closely. If you have questions, just ask one of the teachers.

15. Where should I drop off my child for summer camp? Our main school office will normally be open from 9-2 Monday through Friday, so it is probably easier to drop off your child at our downstairs entrance. To reach that entrance, turn on 38th street off 75th or 70th, and you will see our back entrance right next to the new homes between 75th and 70th. You can park and then come in the large double doors to reach our preschool classes. The younger preschool class is our last preschool classroom, and the older class is the first class you will come to. The school age class is located in the cottages outside our preschool but at times will be combined with preschool, especially earlier and later in the day.
